HIGH SCHOOL

TCS aims to prepare students academically, socially, and spiritually to make an impact for Christ. They believe that every student has unique skills and develop hidden abilities to create a well-rounded individual capable of leading and engaging the world for Christ. Academic expectations go beyond graduation requirements and technical training, focusing on broad exposure and biblical frameworks. Students are required to take lab sciences in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, computer technology, and fine arts. They are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and seek community service opportunities. We provide biblical testing and career guidance to help students utilize their God-given abilities. At TCS our desire is to see students graduate that can impact our world for Christ.

TESTING

Trinity Christian School measures student progress by using a variety of assessment tools in order to determine what students know and how they perform academically. These instruments also serve to provide objective measurements of student aptitude and achievement. Students in Kindergarten through grade twelve (12) undergo the Iowa Assessments (previously the Iowa Test of Basic Skills), as it has been a standard of excellence in nationally-based achievement tests for over 80 years.

TCS students consistently receive scores that rank in the 70th percentile on these achievement tests. The results of these tests assist the school in evaluating our academic program, provide data for our ongoing school improvement plan, and allow us to evaluate our students’ progress over their careers.

Part of the graduation requirement for Trinity’s secondary students is the completion of either the ACT or the SAT college admissions tests during their junior and senior years. The composite scores for Trinity in comparison with the National and State composite scores for the ACT (which is taken by a majority of TCS students) are listed below.

In essence, each year that students attend TCS, they are evaluated on their academic performance, and these data points serve to assist the school in evaluating program and direction.
